An open deck is a great way to connect your indoor living space with the outdoors, the perfect entertaining space for friends, family, and fresh air. A deck can be so much more than a simple transition platform from indoors to out. Decks and their adornments can add definition, character, and enjoyment to any home and yard.
Whether you need a complete replacement, an entirely new design, a new surface, or simply a repair, we have the expertise to build you the deck of your dreams and make sure it lasts. We provide a thorough assessment of your home, your existing structure, and your wishlist, and work with you to determine the best solutions for your project.
At Triangle Tradesmen, we thoroughly understand the requirements of designing and building decks that last for years of enjoyment by our clients, their families, and their friends for everything from solitary reflection to large BBQ gatherings. Read below to see some of our guidelines of just how we ensure excellence in our work from the ground up:
All of our decks rest on solid 6x6 posts on top of solid poured high-strength concrete footers. Strong knee or X-bracing is added between posts when necessary to keep your deck from swaying no matter how much traffic passes over it.
While many builders use 2x8 joists and other framing, Triangle Tradesmen frames every deck with 2x10 or larger lumber carefully selected and inspected for defects before installation. Everything is held together with Simpson and FastenMaster structural hardware at every joint to make sure it never separates.
We build our decks with a double outer rim on all sides to ensure a solid frame between the posts. The rim is anchored to the tops of the posts with heavy duty hardware.
Proper attachment to the house is critical to keeping both the deck and the outer wall of your house strong and long-lasting. With the exception of masonry, we install 3 layers of waterproof flashing at the attachment point. That’s right, 3 layers of assurance that water never penetrates your house wall and damages the framing.
Water is the enemy of wood structure, pressure treated or not. Our standard includes the installation of butyl tape over all doubled framing components and upward facing wood grain. This ensures that the water that drains between the boards is allowed an easy path to the ground and never gets retained in the framing. Composite or metal framing is also available.
Seamless surfacing adds visual appeal and protects the structure beneath. All outer edges of the platform are picture framed to conceal the ends of the deck planks, as well as completely covering the double framing, adding another layer of protection from water retention. For longer decks, we install transition planks perpendicular to the decking direction. This both defines spaces on the deck and keeps from installing decking end-to-end, which tends to open up and look unsightly over time and allows water through, eventually leading to framing damage. Picture framing step treads is available upon request.
We use only the highest quality and trusted materials in our deck projects. We install all products to meet or exceed manufacturer guidelines and ensure that all product warranties are maintained. From fasteners to finishes, you can rest assured that your deck comes with the best protections in the industry.
We offer a variety of design options and accessories all professionally installed. From PVC fascia wrap to composite matching your decking, we can wrap the wood frame of the deck to enhance appearance and minimize maintenance. We can install lighting into the steps, posts, and even the deck floor. Built-in planters, privacy walls, and gates are just a few of the exciting features we’re happy to incorporate into your dream deck.
We offer a variety of decking from premium pressure treated to exotic woods, composites, PVC, and even mineral based decking. These come from the greatest manufacturers in the industry like Deckorators (we’re manufacturer certified!), TimberTech, Trex, and others. Their products offer great options from varying sized planks to stay-cool technology. They can all be installed in two-tone configurations to enhance the borders and spaces on your deck. Ask us how we can custom install these products to make your deck the envy of the neighborhood.
See our other site sections for other enhancements we can make to your deck and outdoor living space from railing to pergolas to under deck drainage systems.
